THE BRISTLE
TOP STICK FLOAT
The
bristle top stick float is a float that's
been developed from a pole float, it is a
basic stick boat but with a difference, it
has a nylon bristle in the top.
The advantage of this bristle is the float
can be shotted well down in the water,
showing the shyest of bites.
The development of this float came about
with the very shy bites from those wearily
old roach, on the Warwickshire Avon, in the
Midlands, as with a normal stick float the
presentation must be spot on, these roach
would swim with the bait, sucking out the
maggots, and without a bite detected.
This float would with the slightest movement
show a bite, slightly over shotting and
using pole bristle grease to help keep the
bristle just above water, this float became
perhaps the most sensitive of all stick
float fishing Roach can on some venues, be
very clever to catch, especially if they are
fished for often.
The
bristle stick method is very good for roach
fishing, and this bristle top can be
devastating, for quality roach.
Small roach are much easier to catch than
their parents, yet offering a very light and
sensitive approach can result in better
quality fish.
The secret is to create a natural bait
presentations and by trotting through
unheeded with this light stick float method,
making sure that their is no unnatural
movement of the float then good quality
roach will follow.
I
have a range of these sticks, that I can
change and use instantly converting a normal
stick float and because of the rubbers, in
to a sensitive bristle stick float.
When I have missed bites, or little dimples
around the float, can tell me when to change
and what a difference it can sometimes make.
