Having fished the Belmont stretch on the
River Wye at Hereford for over 40 years I have
seen countless river float designs come onto
the market. Having used most and especially
pleased with the new range of aerodynamic
floats I decided to design a river float that
worked best for me. I call the float after one
of my favourite venues The Belmont Boly Float.
Using a traditional Avon shape that works well
on most rivers I found this design ideal for
the deeper faster flowing stretches that
worked perfectly. With the weight down
it is an instant fishing float presentation
And using an Olivetti and swivel on the line
thus allowing to retrieve at long distances
across or mid river without the hook length
twisting and tangling allowing a good
presentation every time.
This float is perfect for mended the long
length of line from the rod to the float in
mid river and when striking with this shape
float there is less splash and float
disturbance on the surface of the water
therefore not disturbing the feeding fish
underneath the float, thus allowing catching
more fish.
I have used this float to great success not
only on the River Wye at Belmont but also on
any other deep flowing rivers such as the
Severn, Bristol Avon, Warwickshire Avon,
Thames, Trent and lots more...
Having design my new range of floats I am very
happy and confident that anglers will catch
more fish on big rivers while using this float
very comparable to the Bolognese float as
described in an early articles, the shotting
pattern is simple, using an Olivetti bulk down
and just a couple of shots on the hook length
separated by a small swivel.
Using the swivel as a quick hook length change
tool it is very easy to change any made up
hook lengths to the constant change in bait
feeding species of feeding fish
